Joan E. Pond, 68 of Walnut Street in Claremont, NH died Wednesday (March 3) at Valley Regional Hospital following a sudden illness. She was born in Chazy, NY on November 5, 1941 the daughter of Joseph and Clara Bessette. Joan had been employed as a bartender by the Polish American Citizens Club, Claremont Moose Lodge and American Legion Post #29 all in Claremont. She had also been employed in the housekeeping department at Valley Regional Hospital. She was a member of the Women of the Moose and the American Legion Auxiliary. Joan enjoyed crocheting and was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Members of her family include her husband, Roland Pond, Sr., Claremont, NH; four sons, Roland Pond, Jr. and his wife Nancy, Charlestown, NH; Eric Pond and his wife Melissa, Kurt Pond, Brian Pond and his wife, Lori, all of Claremont, NH; 4 daughters, Margaret Trayeah and her husband Arthur, Colchester, VT; Marlene Gratacos, Unity, NH; Arlene Collins and her husband William, Claremont, NH; Bernadette Scott and her companion, Jeff Tyminski, Rutland, VT; 18 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, a brother, William Maynard, three sisters, Melody Maynard, Patty Maynard, Dee Dee Maynard, a brother in law, Bernard Pond, South Hadley, MA; two sisters in law, Rita Sexton, Holyoke, MA; and Nancy Szeto, Claremont, NH and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 PM on Sunday (March 7) at the Roy Funeral Home. Friends may call at the Roy Funeral Home, 93 Sullivan Street, Claremont, NH on Sunday from 12:30 until the time of services. Committal services will be held at a later date in Burlington, VT at the convenience of the family. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Roy Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
